Feel Makarska

Museum of Malacological

The shell museum is located in the complex of the Franciscan monastery in Makarska. It was created thanks to a great man, a theologian and botanist, friar dr Jure Radić and his colleaques, as well as other lovers of shells. The museum officially was opened on 30th April, 1963, and became one of the town’s main attractions. Over 3,000 fascinating exhibits – shells from our Adriatic Sea, as well as tropical and subtropical seas, will attract your attention with their colour and shape. The museum is open to visitors in the summer season in the mornings and afternoons.
